I have been struggling with high cholesterol for a number of years. Changing my diet such as adding oat bran and adding plant stanol/sterols brought it down quite a bit. But it was still too high. I tried statins but I have a rare side effect, bad insomnia, with most of them. So in researching alternatives to statins, I came across guggul lipid, an Ayurvedic remedy in use in India. I researched it extensively on reputable web sites including reading clinical trials. For example: webmd [...] Other sites such as studies documented on [...] showed mixed results along with warnings about drug interactions. But I am not taking any of the drugs that interact with guggul. And based on my doctor's significant concern, I decided to give it a try. At least for me, the results are better cholesterol levels. I'm giving guggul three stars but not based on the manufacturer but on the scientific evidence. If you can control your cholesterol levels in other ways, I would use the products that have good clinical evidence behind them.
